So, few people <em>need</em> these guys for that. Now, if they also do PR and whatnot, that's another story. After calling themselves publishers, I certainly hope they do. As in what is this mystical production cost going to, and how is it necessary in today's world. I do think that many things are best left to professionals. But like you're saying, how hard is it to find one for yourself these days, if you don't happen to have one hanging around already?
