This is old, but I just came across this recently and thought I’d share it. Because while the iPad is certainly neat, and Steve Jobs certainly spoke highly of the iBookstore (which is to be expected), here’s what he had to say about Amazon’s Kindle two years ago:
Thanks for the support, Mr. Jobs. It means the world to us crazy and naive writer folk.

He didn’t mean it, honest. He was just frustrated by the kindle situation. Penultimate paragraph to follow. But penultimate means next to, so you want the second best paragraph? What if I send you my best paragraph, and tell you it’s my second best, will that improve my chances? Hmmm…
Oh. Second to last. I see…
What I find most ironic is how when he announced the iPad he spoke highly of the Kindle and said how they had done even better … and then went on about their “great” iBookstore.
